Bible Study and Forum Club, sponsored
by OK House and Student Senate, represent two groups that invite students
and staff into discussion.
“Anytime there is discussion about
issues of importance, you grow and develop. Both [groups] are avenues for
that growth,” Ann Kuhlman, OK House director, said.
Both groups meet two times per week
and a student only needs to show up to become involved.
“During Forum Club, a person learns
the ability to express their viewpoints and to disagree with the viewpoints
of others,” Kuhlman said.
Forum Club meets in the Activity
Center every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and in the dorm cafeteria
every Thursday from 11:15 a.m. -1:30 p.m.
Forum Club is designed as a place
for students and staff to discuss controversial issues and personal concerns.
Some examples of issues that may be covered are abortion, capital punishment,
welfare or euthanasia.
Forum Club also brings to campus
speakers and events that are relevant to the controversial topic they are
discussing.
“In Bible Study, you experience a
deepening of the Christian faith and gain more knowledge of your roots
and beliefs,” Kuhlman said.
Bible Study meets in the OK House
every Tuesday at 1:30 and every Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
Bible Study is a non-threatening
environment where students, staff and community members have discussion,
regardless of their degree of knowledge about biblical studies, and prayer,
Kuhlman said.
