Attend Career Fair March 25

NIACC and the Community Cares Coalition, an organization that deals with community unemployment issues, will be holding a Career and Community Resource Fair Wednesday March 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the NIACC Gymnasium.

All NIACC students, as well as the public, are encouraged to participate in this event. The career fair is a great opportunity for students graduating this May who are looking for employment shortly thereafter.

The fair will allow them to visit with employers who have positions available. It is also an opportunity for students to find internships for this summer.

Several businesses from around the community and surrounding areas will be participating in the event including ABCM corporation, Iowa Department of Human Services and the Mason City Police Department.

Prior to attending the career fair, it is wise for students to prepare a resume, a cover letter and possibly a portfolio of their work.

Also, doing background research on companies students are interested in applying at is a great idea. Knowing what a company is all about will show interest and make a great first impression, which is very important.

For a full list of exhibitors, and more advice on what to do and what not to do before, during and after the event, students may visit the Career and Internship Center Home page at www.niacc.edu/careercente or the Career and Internship Center located on the NIACC campus in the Pappajohn Business and Entrepreneurial Center rooms 115 & 116 or can be reached by phone at 641-422-4292 (Tina) or 641-422-4238 (Dana).
