People need to relax on the social media sceneWouldn’t it be nice if everyone just got along? Why is it that people have to argue so much? However, when we argue it makes us human. Often people argue to the point they forget the original reason. Now with Facebook and other social networking services, it is not only easy to see who added a new picture to an album or gained a new job, it’s also easier to witness an argument between friends and family on their profiles. In fact the word “flaming” is the new slang used to describe insult and verbal bashing over the net. Whatever you typed to that person is out for everyone to see, and even if you deleted it, someone will probably still read it. It’s so easy to share on the Internet and so hard to take back what we say. Combined with today’s technology and temper issues, it has never been easier to express one’s opinion, or hate, on a subject or individual. But “gossip” can get halfway around the world before you even have a chance to backup your statement, which just feeds the fire that much more. The best chance you have is to learn how to forgive and find logical reasoning. We are all human and make mistakes. So what if the guy at a restaurant gave you a vanilla shake instead of chocolate? So what if you are ten minutes late to class to help a friend with homework? It happens, but people often see fit that they should retaliate. They feel under attack. They feel they need to retaliate somehow to know that they are right. But the truth is that you can’t just be angry for a moment and try to go on with the rest of your day because that resentment will eventually catch-up with you. It’s easier to snap than to forgive. Relax. Breathe. Is today really the end of the world of human civilization? Or did your roommate eat all of your chips? Stop and realize your situation and talk. Have an open mind to someone’s point of view. Have the will to forgive. |
