Important to figure out a way to live simply

I don’t think I am the first to admit that we have too much stuff in our lives, too much clothing, a lot of DVDs and way too much food.

Why is it that we love our stuff so much? It is possible to lose ourselves in this mess of collecting to the point that we might distant ourselves from people and possibly our health.

The best way to experience this and solve it first-hand is here at college.

The first thing I figured out during my freshman year was that I had an abundance of electronics. I had a DVD player, three Nintendo systems and the list goes on.

I had so much stuff that I never even used my entire first year of college.

Stuff I just had because I wanted to have it.

A fellow floor mate who had just as much stuff as I did had his dorm room broken into and everything robbed during the last week of school.

What’s sad about it is that it took something like that to finally get the message through to my head and the other guys on my floor.

Having a TV is all right, but if you have more than two other systems attached to it, then you need to rethink what you really need.

Ask yourself what is important to me while I am here at school? Is my education and well being worth it?

Questions like those are a part of shaping our years after college.

We learn not to overspend and we learn to appreciate what we have.

Solving our ways to take on cluttering head on can make us less stressful and more organized.

Not just for our rooms, but this can also apply at work with schedules and financial needs.

Finding a way for ourselves to “live simply to simply live” is becoming more prominent as the years go on.

Let’s try to keep what we know is important ahead of that new cell phone.
