New NIACC Credit Class for Spring 2009
PEA-130 Downhill Skiing (1 S.H.)
Tuesday and Thursday 2:40 - 4:10, CB-100
January 20 - Feb 5
(Note: Starts the 2nd week of classes)
Plus 2 ski days arranged on weekends
Instructor: Bruce McKee
Description:
Fundamentals of downhill (alpine) skiing with a combination of
classroom discussion, demonstration, on-the-slope skiing lessons and
evaluation. The class meets for nine hours of classroom instruction
and will have twelve hours of ski instruction. Students will be
required to sign up for two one-day, weekend ski trips with the
class during the semester, and will ski with the class during the
lesson time. The lab-fee ($60) in addition to the tuition will cover
the cost of the lift ticket on each of the ski days. The rental fee
will be paid directly to the ski resort. A student may provide their
own ski equipment rather than renting. This course will not cover
snowboarding, nor cross country (Nordic) skiing.

Additional course fee:
Students will be required to attend two one-day ski trips and will pay
for the lift ticket and ski/boot rental.
A lab fee of $60 for two lift tickets will be charged at the time of
registration.
The cost of renting equipment will be paid by the student to the ski
resort on the day of the trip, approximately $22-$35 per rental.
Students may use their own ski equipment if they so choose.
